In Lavre, district of Montemor-o-Novo, there is an area of 20 hectares, that combines the perfection of a leisure park with the one of an animal farm, its name is - Monte Selvagem.

A day spent at Monte Selvagem is an unforgettable adventure for bath the grow up as well as for little ones. It is an opportunity to have fun combined with the learning of many things about animals, plants and regional games.

A visit to Monte Selvagem is composed of three different parts:

1. Walking tour
- Area of 5 hectares
- Oak and holm - oak grove, typical from Alentejo
- Free walking tour or fallowing our suggestion, indicated by information displays
- Various species of wild animals in perfect condition of animal well-being
- Little farm with small domestic animals when it is possible to have a close contact with the animals
- Leisure equipment for children and adults

2. Tractor Ride
- It takes around ½ hour
- Area of 12 hectares
- Animal in semi-freedom in a wide area

3. Pedagogic Project “Wilderness Education”
It is implemented in the whole park.
- Objectives: - Educate and make one aware of environmental issues
- Conservation of biodiversity
- Stimulate the liking of learning in contact with nature and the respect for the environment, animals and plants
- Methods: - Educate by following the example (by Keeping animals and plants in well-being conditions; rational usease of natural resources an reduction of wastes; stimulation to separate wastes; association and support to education and preservation projects.
- Information signals and educational games spread all over the park
- Pedagogical activities orientated towards primary schools by means of supplying educational material developed by the park.
